Is een finoven goed regelbaar?

De massieve / dikke “accumulatie”wanden van de finoven, voorkomen dat het te warm wordt. Dit in tegenstelling tot stalen kachels, welke het veelal “snikheet” stoken. De wanden van de finoven zijn daarom te vergelijken met een soort “fijnafstelling”. Heel langzaam én tevens ook heel geleidelijk, stijgt de temperatuur een aantal graden bij het stoken van de kachel. Na de stookbeurt neemt na verloop van vele uren de warmteafgifte heel langzaam af. Het moment van de nieuwe stookbeurt is dan het eigenlijke regelen van de temperatuur. Dit is - afhankelijk van externe factoren zoals oa. isolatiegraad van de woning - niet vaker dan één à twee keer per dag!

Daarnaast speelt ook nog het zelfregulerend effect van het sóórt stralingswarmte een rol. Langgolvige stralingswarmte - zoals de finoven levert - is nl. het meest actief bij een groot temperatuursverschil, zoals bijvoorbeeld bij het opwarmen van de (koude)woning. Als de woning op temperatuur is en de zon komt er plotseling bij, dan wordt - doordat het temperatuursverschil afneemt - de straling dus ook vanzelf minder, wat in een vrij stabiele / aangename temperatuurcurve resulteert.
