Wanneer hout op de juiste manier gestookt wordt, krijg je een quasi CO2-neutrale verbranding. De hoge stooktemperaturen en de snelle verbranding zorgen voor een schone verbranding, waardoor rookontwikkeling en luchtverontreiniging tot een minimum herleid worden. Het bijkomende voordeel van de warmteaccumulerende kachel is dat de warmte die opgewekt wordt, opgeslagen wordt in de massa van de kachel en daarna geleidelijk aan weer wordt vrijgegeven. De finoven haalt zo het maximale rendement uit elke stookbeurt. Stoken met een houtkachel kan dus een hele milieuvriendelijke manier van verwarmen zijn.
