Finovens

In de Scandinavische landen is het concept van de finoven al vele generaties ingeburgerd. Finovens werken volgens het zogenaamde tegenstroomprincipe. In tegenstelling tot de gewone houtkachel, waarbij de rookgassen rechtstreeks de schouw ingaan, dwingt de finoven de hete verbrandingsgassen terug omlaag. Op deze manier krijgt de warmte van een relatief kortstondig houtvuur de kans om zich te nestelen in de steenmassa. Die functioneert als een accu die na de stookbeurt haar warmte gelijkmatig uitstraalt via de wanden. Waar een gewone houtkachel vaak luchtcirculatie en een tochtgevoel veroorzaakt, creëert een finoven een behaaglijke stralingswarmte die nog vele uren na de stookbeurt voelbaar is. Een aangenamere warmte is nauwelijks denkbaar.

Wat is warmteaccumulatie?

Een warmteaccumulerende kachel zorgt ervoor dat je het maximum uit elke stookbeurt haalt: de warmte die tijdens de verbranding vrijkomt, wordt opgevangen in de massa van de kachel en daarna geleidelijk aan weer vrijgegeven. Op die manier bekom je een optimaal rendement.
